Teigo Asai and co-workers from Tohoku University have reported in Organic Letters on the isolation of mollipilins A and B, which had moderate cytotoxicity against human colon cancer cells at 1.8 and 3.7 micomolar IC50 values.

Premnalatifolin A

Suresh Babu and co-workers at IICT have reported in Tetrahedron Letters on the isolation of a dimeric diterpene dubbed premnalatifolin A from an Indian medicinal plant, Premna latifolia.  This compound had IC50 values of 12.15 and 1.11 μg/mL against HT-29 and MCF-7 cell lines, respectively.

Franklinolides A-C

Robert Capon and co-workers have published in ACIEE on the isolation of three new polyketide phosphodiesters, franklinolides A-C.  Franklinolide A had an IC50 value of 1.7 micromolar against the HT29 (colorectal adenocarcinoma) cancer cell lines.

Towards Pectenotoxins

Georgios Vassilikogiannakis and co-workers at the University of Crete have published in Chemical Communications on a singlet oxygen promoted cascade reaction to obtain the ABC ring system found in pectenotoxin.  **Hint:  The reaction starts with a double Diels-Alder.
