Marge Tadesse and co-workers at have reported in Tetrahedron Letters on the isolation of synoxazolidinone C, which had an IC50 value of 30.5 μM against lung fibroblast cells (MRC-5).

Divergolides

Christian Hertweck and co-workersfrom HKI in Germany have published in ACIEE on the isolation of a group of macrolides and divergolide D was the most cytotoxic with IC50 values ranging from 1-2 micromolar against lung cancer (LXFA 629L), pancreatic cancer (PANC-1), renal cancer (RXF 486L), and sarcoma (Saos-2) cancer cell lines.

Towards Pectenotoxins

Georgios Vassilikogiannakis and co-workers at the University of Crete have published in Chemical Communications on a singlet oxygen promoted cascade reaction to obtain the ABC ring system found in pectenotoxin.  **Hint:  The reaction starts with a double Diels-Alder.
