A marine fungus, Spicaria elegans, was cultured and showed anti-cancer activities (modest – 19 micromolar). The structure is the most interesting as it possesses a polycyclic framework, which includes a seven membered ring – this molecule is called spicochalasin A and is from the cytochalasan family of molecules.
