Heronamides A-C

Robert Capon and co-workers at the University of Queensland have published in Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry on the isolation of polyketide macrocycles dubbed heronamides.  None of the compounds had anticancer or antibiotic activity but heronamide C at 50 micromolar concentration made the HeLa cells have large intracellular structures.  The biosynthesis of these molecules are interesting in that the polycyclic ring structure is obtained via electrocyclic ring closure.
