The Stierles from the University of Montana in Missoula have reported in the Journal of Natural Products on the isolation of some meroterpenes from extremophiles living in an abandoned copper mine, which has turned into a lake. I should mention the lake is not just any ordinary lake that one can go fishing at – it is an EPA Superfund site.
