Kazuhiko Takai and co-workers have reported in Organic Letters on a rhenium catalyzed C-S bond addition onto a terminal alkyne. We don’t usually see much of rhenium chemistry out there, but when there is something, it seems to be interesting.

Armen Zakarian and co-workers at UCSB have recently published in JACS on an allylic alcohol transposition using a rhenium oxide catalyst – a terminal alcohol transfers position with the internal alkene to yield an internal alcohol and terminal olefin.
