Z-selective RCM with tungsten

Amir Hoveyda and co-workers from Boston College have reported in Nature on a ring closing metathesis approach to access macrocyclic natural products with a Z-olefin using a tungsten alkylidene.

Chamobtusin synthesis

Sakae Aoyagi and colleague at the Tokyo Pharmaceutical University have reported in Chem Comm on the synthesis of chamobtusin, a diterpenoid alkaloid.  A tungsten mediated oxidation protocol was used to access the pyrrole from a tetrahydropyrrole.

Tungsten Mediated C-C Bond Cleavage
