Anti-influenza compounds

Posted by naturalproductman on October 15, 2011

Zanamivir is a compound that is a neuraminidase inhibitor that mimics the transition state of this enzyme.  Neuraminidase is an enzyme that cleaves the glycosidic linkage of neuraminic acids and is an inhibition target for treating influenza.  Chi-Huey Wong and co-workers at Academia Sinica from Taiwan have reported in JACS on  phosphonate analogs of these anti-influenza drugs.
