Diastereoselective Radical Cascade

Posted by naturalproductman on November 4, 2010

David Proctor and co-workers from the University of Manchester have published in Organic Letters on a SmI2 mediated radical cyclization to yield either a spirocycle or cyclobutanols.  The radical cyclization is diastereoselective due to a silicon tether group that blocks one face.
