Tatanans were isolated from the rhizomes of Acorus tatarinowii Schott by De-Quan Yu and co-workers at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College.  These compounds were found to have antihyperglycemic activity with EC1.5 values ranging from 0.16−1.85 μM.
