Diversity is what makes life beautiful. We always see so many different natural products isolated from various sources: plants, sponges, microbes, etc. And within each source, there is a wide range of different kinds of that specific type (ie: so many different species of plants out there). This myriad of sources leads to many different types of structures with unique biological activity. Well enough of that “diversity” spiel – let’s get to the point, which is the isolation of some new compounds with interesting biological activity reported by Munekazu Iinuma and co-workers at Gifu Pharmaceutical University.
