Ketene cascade

Anthony Barrett and co-workers at Imperial College have reported in Organic Letters on a cascade reaction that involves the formation of a ketene followed by trapping with an enamine to form pyridinones.

Reformatsky-Claisen Cascade

Jeffrey Johnson and co-workers at UNC have published in JACS on a Refoormatzky-Claisen condensation cascade reaction where the second enolate generated opens a beta-lactone.
