Omaezakianol Synthesis

Posted by naturalproductman on March 10, 2010

Poly-tetrahydrofuranyl compounds usually have some interesting biological activity.  Zhaoming Xiong and co-workers at Boehringer Ingelheim in Connecticut have recently published in Organic Letters on the synthesis of omaezakianol by epoxidizing a polyolefin using Shi’s catalyst followed by an acid catalyzed polyepoxide opening cascade reaction.
