Gold vs. Platinum

Keisuke Kato and co-workers at Toho University have published in Tetrahedron on some cascade reactions mediated by gold or platinum.  Interestingly, depending on the metal, the reaction either undergoes a [3,3]-sigmatropic acyloxy rearrangement or a 1,2-acyloxy cyclization.
